5 Benefits of Installing Quartz Countertops in Your Granbury Home

Install Quartz Countertops in Granbury

Whether you’re getting ready to replace your existing countertops or install counters in a new  home, it’s important to do your research on any materials you’re considering. While the look, feel, and luxury of natural stone is coveted by many homeowners, it may not be appropriate in certain situations. That’s where quartz countertops come in.

Quartz, a man-made material that looks and feels just like its natural counterpart, quartzite, is an excellent countertop material for a variety of reasons. Below, the experts at Wholesale Granite Direct share just a few of the benefits you can enjoy when you install quartz countertops in your Granbury home.

1. Stain Resistance

Unlike natural stone, quartz is nonporous. The resin used during the manufacturing process effectively eliminates pores in the material, which means it can resist stains from liquids and other materials.

If you have kids, quartz is an excellent countertop choice, as children are prone to spilling liquids. Or, if you’re a somewhat messy cook yourself, choosing quartz can help you avoid unintentional countertop stains.

2. Damage Resistance

Quartz is incredibly tough and durable as a result of its unique manufacturing process. In addition to eliminating the pores that are naturally present in quartzite, the manufacturing process also creates a super-hard hybrid material that’s all but indestructible. Here’s how it works:

  • Naturally occurring clusters of quartz (which are found in crystal and silica sand) are crushed into varying sizes. Aggregates can range from around five to eight millimeters, all the way down to a coarse powder.
  • The crushed quartz pieces are then combined with various pigments to create multiple colors and designs in the finished product. Some types of quartz may even include small amounts of recycled glass.
  • Polymer resins are added to the aggregate-pigment mixture to bind everything together.
  • The material is poured into various sizes of molds, where it will form into dense slabs.
  • Slabs are pressed through a vibration and vacuum process to remove any air pockets. Approximately 100 tons of pressure is necessary to complete this step!
  • The slabs are then cured in a kiln for proper sealing, and to wrap up the process, they’re calibrated, gauged, and polished to perfection.

Because quartz goes through a lengthy manufacturing process that’s specifically designed to create a super-hard, dense material, it’s one of the most durable countertop options on the market. If you’re prone to dropping things or have children who are, opt for quartz. You won’t regret it!

3. Long-Lasting Performance

One of the biggest draws to quartz is its incredible resilience to staining, damage, and all other forms of deterioration. With proper care, quartz countertops will last for as long as you live in your Granbury home, and they’ll continue performing long after you sell the place.

As long as you don’t intentionally damage your quartz (who does that?), it’ll last just about forever. Most quartz products come with impressive manufacturer warranties that last a decade or a lifetime. If it wasn’t super durable, manufacturers wouldn’t offer that kind of backing on their products.

4. Design Versatility

No matter what your interior design looks like, you can find quartz countertops to complement it. Because quartz is fashioned from a mixture of naturally occurring stone and pigments, it can be manufactured to suit any taste.

You can opt for a quartz slab that’s virtually identical to natural stone, or you can choose something a bit more eclectic to suit your unique design vision. When you choose quartz, your design options are virtually unlimited.

5. Minimal Countertop Maintenance

One of the best things about quartz countertops is that they’re incredibly low-maintenance. Unlike natural stone counters, which typically require periodic resealing and specialty cleaning products, quartz requires only standard cleaning products and a soft cloth to retain its stunning appearance.

Here’s what maintenance for quartz countertops typically entails:

  • Clean up fresh spills with a soft, absorbent cloth.
  • Use a surface or glass cleaner to remove anything that looks like a stain.
  • For dried-on spills or gunk, use a non-abrasive sponge and regular dish soap or surface cleaner.
  • Avoid placing hot objects directly on a quartz countertop. Always use trivets or hot pads.
  • Avoid cutting directly on the countertop.
  • Avoid using alkaline or abrasive cleaning products and abrasive scrubbing pads to clean the counters.
